Only 4 More Sleeps?!?!

Next Sunday at this time, we will be preparing to meet Lucy for the first time. How exciting! We have been so busy lately it's unbelievable! This last week we have spent hours choosing flooring, tile, toilet flush handles, and a fireplace for our new house. Technically, we haven't chosen the flush handles and I'm feeling that is going to be a no brainer--I hope!

Today we are having an open house from 1-4. During the open house we plan to go to Wal-Mart to buy, buy, buy! Wow! This should be an exciting time because we are finally preparing to go to China. The list doesn't look too bad, or long. We plan to get many of the necessities (diapers, formula, etc) while we are there. In fact, friends of ours who traveled to China to adopt their daughter shared that there are Wal-Marts there and they are ginormous! Wow! I've pretty much sworn off Wal-Marts since Max got out of diapers, but I'm practically salivating at thought of visiting a 4-story Wal-Mart.

Pam!
I just read the comment you left on my blog.
Where in Beijing will you be staying?
We are staying at the Changan Grand Hotel and then at the Gloria in Nanchang. We may be on the same flight from Beijing to Nanchang.

New home, new baby. Isn't that the saying?
I thought I had a lot to do!!
You are a busy woman, but it must be fun to prepare for a new home.
Congratulations!
Safe Travel and maybe see you in China!!

Just wanted to add that visiting the Walmart in Nanchang is truly an adventure! LOL. Some things will look so very similar to ours, but believe me when I say that the produce and meat depts. will not! If you're curious at all you have to check it out and take pictures (I did). If you have a weak stomach, I would not recommend it. But the food is on a different floor than the domestic stuff. Can't wait to hear what you thought of Walmart Nanchang. LOL.
Culture shock doesn't begin to describe Nanchang. If you're touring Beijing you won't be subjected to most of the local culture. And Guangzhou is ultra-modern and nearly everone speaks English. But Nanchang.....
This is where you learn about your daughter's culture and heritage and it will leave you with images you will never forget. Some absolutely wonderful and breathtaking, others,,,, not so much. LOL. But I wouldn't trade a minute of the 5-6 days we spent there. Well maybe the AC. They turned it off in Sept. We were there in late Oct.,and it was 85 and humid. :-(
Anxious to read all your thoughts and experiences. And anxious to see those first pictures of you and Lucy together.
